Bookkeeper Opening
Honor Flight Chicago is excited to hire a bookkeeper to help manage the day-to-day oversight of all finance and reporting activities for the organization. This is a new position at Honor Flight Chicago.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of finance, accounting and systems and be solution oriented. Experience in non-profit organizations is a plus, experience with QuickBooks accounting software is a requirement. Excellent written and oral communication skills and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software required.
The person in this position will be expected to be in the office Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m for at least 30 hour per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Manage all accounting operations including billing, payroll and revenue recognition
– Prepare and publish timely monthly and year-end financial statements
– Research technical accounting issues for compliance
– Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
– Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
– Coordinate with Auditor in the preparation of the annual audit and Form 990
– Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
– Maintain personnel records and employee files
– Prepare payroll checks and all required payroll reports
